The Income Stack #4: Google's $200 billion bet (and the year your money runs out)
Hey friends β Joe here.
Good day, fellow stackers!
Every week in The Income Stack, I share three things from my journey of stacking income streams beyond the paycheck: my real trades and market reads, one money idea worth your attention, and one honest note from life after 9 years at Google.
Enjoy!
π 1. Trades on the Table
Two weeks ago, Google dropped ~7% in a single day. The market was spooked that Google is now spending more than it earns to build out AI.
This week I went and actually did the homework on that fear.
I pulled 42 quarters β ten and a half years β of Google's filings to answer one question: is the ~$200 billion Google plans to spend on data centers in 2026 the smartest bet of the decade, or the moment the wheels start to wobble?
I broke it into 8 questions, and the numbers surprised me in a few places. It's the most thorough thing I've written all year.

π‘ 2. One Idea Worth Compounding
Most people make the biggest financial decision of their life β "can I stop working?" β on a gut feeling.
So I built a free calculator to replace the feeling with a number.
Answer five questions (what you've saved, when you want to stop, what you add each month, what you'll spend, expected average return) and it shows you the exact year your money either runs dry or comfortably outlives you.
The fun part is the "what-if" mode: change one input and watch your freedom year move. It makes the two levers that matter most β how much you invest, and what return you earn.

π οΈ 3. Notes from the Pivot
I wrote something more personal this week, and I almost didn't publish it.
For most of my life, I optimized for everyone else. Parents. Company. Team. Society's scorecard. Somewhere in all that optimizing, "me" got buried so deep I forgot he was down there.
Leaving the paycheck didn't fix that overnight. But it did force the question I'd been avoiding for years: outside of being good at my job, what do I actually want?
The answer came back in small, almost embarrassing ways β picking up a paintbrush again, writing in public even though it scares me, building things just because they're interesting. These may not looks impressive on a CV. All of it makes me feel more alive because they are
If you've ever caught yourself last on your own responsibility list, this one's for you.

That's all for this week.
What would you like to see more of β market deep dives, the money tools, or the behind-the-scenes of the pivot? Hit reply and tell me. I read every reply, and next week's issue is often built from them.
Keep growing!
